TOWN OF VIEW ROYAL BYLAW NO. 1157

A BYLAW TO PROVIDE TAX EXEMPTION FOR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

WHEREAS Section 224(2)(a) of the Community Charter provides that on or before October 31st in any year, the Council may, by bylaw, exempt from taxation land or improvements, or both, that are owned or held by a charitable, philanthropic or other not for profit corporation and that the Council considers are used for a purpose that is directly related to the purposes of the corporation;

AND WHEREAS Section 224(4) of the Community Charter requires that the term of the exemption, which may not be longer than 10 years, must be established;

AND WHEREAS the School Act provides that real property exempted from taxation under the Community Charter is exempted from taxation for school purposes;

NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Town of View Royal, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:

  1. This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as “Tax Exemption Bylaw (Non-Profit Organizations) No. 1157, 2025.”

  2. The following properties, excluding that proportion of the said lands and improvements that may at any point during the period of exemption be deemed to be used for profit purposes, are hereby declared exempt from taxation for the years 2026 to 2035 inclusive, pursuant to Section 224(2)(a) of the Community Charter:

    a) Parcel Identifier: PID 023-005-459; Lot 1, Sections 6, 97, and 103; Plan VIP60330; Roll Number: 401-18806.000; Owner: Island Corridor Foundation.

    b) Parcel Identifier: PID No’s 011-825-871; 014-980-258; 024-036-021; 024-039-209; 024-839-957; Roll Number: 401-18807.000; Owner: Island Corridor Foundation.

    c) Parcel Identifier: PID 024-635-987; Lot 1, Section 8 & 27; Plan VIP69799; Roll Number 401-18807.002; Owner: Island Corridor Foundation.
