STAFF REPORT: 2024 Asset Management Planning Grant from UBCM

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT the Town of View Royal apply for the Union of British Columbia Municipalities’ (UBCM) 2024 Asset Management Planning grant in support of the Establishing Levels of Service component of the Asset Management Program Improvements project for the amount of $25,000.

PURPOSE:

To seek Council endorsement to apply for the UBCM’s Asset Management Planning Grant to provide supplementary funding to the Asset Management Program Improvements non-core project number N-111.

BACKGROUND & FINANCIAL BENEFITS

View Royal’s Council approved funding in the 2024-2028 Financial Plan for the non-core project entitled Asset Management Program Improvements (N-111). The Town has already secured $10,000 in grant funding (from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs Infrastructure Planning Grant Program) and staff have further identified and confirmed eligibility for an additional $25,000 in supplementary funding from the UBCM Asset Management Planning Grant. If the Town is successful in obtaining this grant funding then the overall funding contribution from the Casino Reserve Fund would be reduced in kind.

Due to the September 27, 2024 grant deadline, staff proactively submitted the Town’s application and garnered permission from UBCM to submit Council’s endorsement resolution after the grant application deadline.

The grant application worksheet is included as Attachment “A” to this report.

TIME CRITICAL:

The grant application deadline has passed, but UBCM have agreed to accept View Royal’s Council resolution in support of the application if it is submitted without delay.
