Subject: CRD funding for the Arts
CRD grants form a core piece of the funding for the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra. This organization has been an integral part of the music experience for literally hundreds of local musicians. Some of whom have gone on to careers in the music industry. I feel that to exclude funding from these young people will diminish the art scene for the south island. It is to the detriment of our entire community to limit funding to regional interests.
The Youth orchestra is open to participation based on talent not address. I would ask that council reconsider this decision and continue to fund on a proportional basis to benefit the entire region.
