Mayor and Council,
The View Royal Climate Coalition is making a presentation in the Petitions and Delegations portion of the April 18th Council Meeting. Please consider the information that is presented as an urgent matter.
View Royal has seen an enormous amount of building and population growth in recent years. There are currently several hundred new residential units under construction. The lifespan of the new buildings will extend to the end of this century. The decades-long environmental impact of those buildings is locked in when they are approved.
We cannot continue down this path of accelerated growth without taking all reasonable steps to ensure that we safeguard the environment by building efficient and zero carbon buildings.
I urge View Royal to immediately implement the Zero Carbon Step Code for all new buildings.
