Hello Mr. Rosenberg,

Yesterday you left a message with our receptionist that the Town of View Royal is putting forth a motion to eliminate parking on Hallowell Road. I wish to advise you that the elimination of parking would certainly impact our business in a negative way. Please acknowledge our objection to this motion. Also, would you please provide the rational for changing the parking regulations at this time.

We constantly have visitors to our facility that require parking either in front of the building or across the street. A typical example is a trades person coming to service on-site equipment. The vans with ladders commonly used by the trades will not clear the height restriction of our parking garages. We have trades coming to service HVAC equipment, modify electrical, and service the elevators. Where are you proposing that they find parking at a convenient location?

Our dealer network is international. We have representatives coming to the facility constantly. Our parking garage facility is unable to handle to the overflow at peak times. There is no parking available within a reasonable three minute walk. There is no alternative to parking on Hallowell Rd. We require street parking to assist with the overflow.

At times of peak demand we run additional shifts, these shifts quite often overlap. Effectively that gives us 150% of our normal work force. We do not have adequate parking for this growth and must rely on the street.

As good corporate citizens of View Royal when we planned the building we made provision for employee and visitor parking at great expense. We have dedicated visitor stalls and we provide incentives to our employees to use alternate mean of transportation, including the use of a vehicle they may use for personal business. Reliable Controls is doing its part to eliminate congestion on Hallowell Rd. In view of what we have done to accommodate off-street parking we would find it punitive if the street parking was eliminated.

If the motion is to go before the town council would you please advise of the date and time, and the requirements to address the council on this matter?

Regards,

Dave Percy Senior Systems & Facility Administrator Reliable Controls Corporation www.reliablecontrols.com 120 Hallowell Road Victoria, British Columbia Canada V9A 7K2
