Re: Tree removal at 25 Stoneridge Drive, Town of View Royal
Dear Council Members,
This letter is written in response to Town of View Royal's letter dated March 18, 2015 as the application of removal of two trees was denied on the above mentioned property.
I humbly request the Council to reconsider the decision because it's a serious health and safety issue.
We started hearing noises in our attic space, which is above our bedroom. Immediately, we called Orkin and it was found that the rodents are getting in to the attic space through the tree. To solve the issue, Orkin suggested to set up traps in the attic space temporarily. However, we opt not to choose that option as our consciousness does not allow to kill these innocent creatures.
Further, Orkin report (attached) clearly indicates to remove the tree which is close to the building as it's posing serious health and safety issues. Further, the pruning will also not solve this issue as the full tree line is above the roof (See attached picture). We didn't like the idea. However, we have no other choice.
Now, we can't use our bedroom and have to sleep in the living room as there is a constant noise from these creatures. Not to mention the mess they are making in the attic space. Soon, the whole space will be smelly and we will be forced to leave the house. It's costing us a lot of money.
As a Development Manager and a Profession Engineer in the Province of BC, I know how important it is to protect our habitat. To minimize the impact on our ecosystem and local habitat, I suggest that only ONE tree should be removed, which is causing serious health and safety issues.
Removal of one tree will not cause any harm to the ecosystem or habitat as:
- There are two other similar trees within 6' in the backyard.
- There are countless trees along the property line which is 15' away.
- 6 trees have already been planted within 15' in lieu of one tree.
It's a serious health and safety issue and I recommend to remove only ONE tree to resolve this issue.
We need your help. This a time sensitive issue and your early response will be highly appreciated.
Thanks and best regards,
Raj Goyal
