Council Meeting
Meeting Overview
The November 17, 2015, Regular Council meeting for View Royal involved several substantive decisions regarding land use and regional initiatives. Council approved a tree removal application for 212 Shadow Ridge Place and endorsed the Parks Master Plan Consultation Strategy. A significant portion of the meeting focused on regional economic development, with Council voting to support the proposed Regional Strategy and Model for Economic Development in South Vancouver Island in principle and allocating $11,221 in the 2016 budget to fund its start-up, contingent on widespread municipal participation. In legislative matters, Council gave three readings to a road closure bylaw for part of Chilco Road and officially adopted an amendment to the Zoning Bylaw regulating drug paraphernalia and licensed retail stores. The latter saw opposition from Councillor Mattson, who was the lone vote against the adoption. Council also amended the Terms of Reference for the Joint West Shore RCMP Services Committee to formalize membership and invitation protocols for neighboring municipalities and First Nations.
