Correspondence from J. Steel & P. Hind re: Village Grove Complex

Letter from residents requesting a rear entrance/exit for their complex due to dangerous traffic conditions on Old Island Highway.

1 CALL TO ORDER 1.
Address: 36-278 Island HighwayConcerns about safety with impending Trans Canada Highway upgrades.

36-278 Island Highway Victoria, B.C. V9B 1G5

October 7, 2015

Mayor & Council. Township of View Royal, B.C.

Dear Sir.

We live in the Village Grove Complex at 278 Island Highway, there are 38 units in this Complex of mostly older residents.

This Complex was built without a rear entrance or exit which has left us with only one alternative, the extremely dangerous Old Island Highway entrance to the Highway. There have been numerous very close calls while trying to exit our Complex, so much so that many residents are almost to the point that they are reluctant to leave because of the extreme danger posed by the ever increasing traffic on this one and only very narrow two lane highway.

With the impending up grading of the Trans Canada Highway intersection at MacKenzie and Admirals Road this will no doubt increase the use on this already overly congested highway to the extent that it will make it even far more dangerous for us to exit this Complex. In addition with the demolition and rebuilding, to whatever, of the old Firehall it will become almost impossible for those of us who live here to leave the property without fear of being hit while attempting to exit the Complex.

It is therefore our request that Council look to the establishment of a rear entrance and exit to this property so that we can avoid a very serious accident situation at the present one only entrance and exit.

Sincerely,

Joan M. Steel & Patrick O. Hind.
