Subject: Commercial Vehicle Traffic Flow Economic Development Project at Hallowell Rd & Admirals Rd

Please advise on intentions to ensure commercial freight traffic is routed to and from this facility via Admirals and Trans Canada Hwy. Helmcken Road and 1A are unsuitable for any increase in traffic, much less commercial vehicles over 10,000 kg GVW. Commercial vehicles associated with this operation should not be permitted to transit through View Royal to this facility.

In addition, future development of properties off Jedburgh Road will create a significant increase to traffic on Jedburgh. Jedburgh Road remains little more than the lane it was when first built, yet has seen the routing of and increase to the size of Hydro lines, significant increase to residential traffic. An increase in traffic loads by at least two cars per new residence has been the standard.

Years ago, the Town responded to concerns Jedburgh residence raised about the through traffic taking short cuts between Helmcken and the Island Hwy by installing a School Zone sign and two No Left Turn signs at each exit from Jedburgh, these signs for the most part are ignored.

The Town approved both the Garrington Pl and Jedburgh Pl strata’s, both of these developments are accessed via Jedburgh yet no improvements were implemented to ensure public safety. With the possibility of two more strata’s planned I urge the Town to review the impact the Hallowell and two Jedburgh Strata’s will have on our community.
