Reconfiguration of Hallowell Road and implications
WHO IS RUNNING THIS SHOW? CRD, VIEW ROYAL, OR FIRST NATIONS?
Many years ago when Trio Cement infringed on our residential properties we fought hard to stop the large trucks from using our road. To the extent that on one occasion an owner even laid down in the street to stop the trucks. Since then much to the disgust of the ladies in the reserve the trucks have travelled through Thomas St. You have told us with the upgrade of Admirals road the grade will be too high. What happened to the machine that chews up the old asphalt and re-lays new, hence not raising the level of the new road. Does Trio give any taxes to View Royal? We, in these complexes, are part of your tax base.
We know that having a new configuration of Hallowell will give View Royal an updated new road at no expense since CRD is footing the bill via Federal money.
You, View Royal people, hope that in turn the large property on the water will sell. With the thought of a new dock with barging facilities coming in do you think High end things will go in there? Sewer treatment plant might make sense.
Since starting this letter I have been down to the waterfront and see a barge and nice new red conveyor belt. Is Everything already a done deal? Are we wasting our time writing to you?
Back to Hallowell. I, at #1, have been doing a survey, have you done one? There are an average of 24 cars per day that are parked on this street. Some people say it is no concern of theirs, but I ask you where are they going to go. Those people are tax payers too, the dog walkers, the ones who take their bikes out of the truck and go for a ride, some to work some along the trail. The families with their little kids in strollers and small kids with their new bikes. The people who go to Portage park and the beach. WHY HAVE ALL THESE FACILLITIES IF YOU HAVE NO ACCESS TO THEM. Waste of my and your tax dollars. Does this whole project just go ahead because you got money from our Federal coffers?
Very quietly on Friday May 29th you, whoever, put up signs stating permit parking only. I WANT TO APPLY FOR A PERMIT. To me this whole project is a done deal and the porkies you told us about at the preliminary meeting is just that lip service with no intention to let us know what is going on.
If the permits are for Reliable Control, WHY? They have underground parking with a visitor button to push and any large trucks use the aprons beside their building on Outlook Road.
Last info received by this strata was February 2013 from the first nations stating in that memo that a mall was going into the spot where Ralmax now is, Even the women on the reserve thought that.
We have been residential for 15 years and the town of View Royal want us to be industrial.
Since we have had no input from any jurisdiction, it seems the best way to get action is to go to the media, and maybe chaining ourselves to the gates might be a good idea too! Just because we are old does not mean we will be invisible.
