Dear Mr. Marlatt:
Re: PROPOSED 60 METRE RADIOCOMMUNICATIONS FACILITY
Thank you for your presentation to the District of Highlands Council sitting as Committee of the Whole on Monday, February 13, 2012. As you know the application was forwarded from the Committee meeting to the Council meeting of February 20, 2012.
At the February 20, 2012 Council meeting, Council members did express concern regarding the installation of this facility.
Council questions the necessity of service enhancement in this sparsely populated area and were not aware of service problems in this area generally. The map detail in the presentation was not adequate to indicate exactly what area of the region would have enhanced service.
Mayor Mendum has also spoken with a representative at Telus who indicated that installations of microwave dishes are not a common occurrence and that one would not be installed on this facility. Council wishes to inform that this would be their preference. Council also wishes to inform that it does not desire a light to be installed on the facility as it interferes with the “night sky”.
Yours truly,
C.D. Coates, Chief Administrative Officer
