INTERIM PURCHASING AUTHORITY
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to approve expenditures in excess of $50,000 during the month of August 2012 provided the expenditures are included in the 2012 budget.
PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To enable the conduct of business during the month of August, 2012 allowing contracts to be let in excess of $50,000 with approval of the Chief Administrative Officer.
TIME CRITICAL:
Authority to commit the Town of View Royal will aid in the avoidance of unnecessary delays.
BACKGROUND:
The Chief Administrative Officer has spending authority of up to $50,000 if the expenditure contemplated is also included in the Financial Plan.
A number of Requests for Proposals and possibly tenders will become due during the month of August. Normally these would be placed on a Council agenda if the amounts exceeded $50,000.
Council does not meet during the month of August. This means that any proposal in excess of $50,000 will have to wait to be awarded at the first Council meeting in September.
PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Town has issued a number of Requests for Proposals that are expected to conclude after July 31. These items should not be delayed unreasonably since the benefit of these projects is to be realized sooner than later.
