8.1 STAFF REPORTS

d) Temporary Commercial Use Permit for 1636 Island Highway – Off Site Parking for the Casino

  1. Report dated August 28, 2008 from the Planner

Staff Recommendation:

THAT Council approve the Temporary Commercial Use Permit application which will allow the land at 1636 Island Highway to be used for parking for a period of up to two years and will permit the installation of two temporary sign to direct patrons to this parking area, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The applicant install temporary fencing along the perimeter of the north side of the parking lot as a safety and security measure.
  2. The generator-based temporary lighting be shut down by 9:30 p.m. each evening to minimize the noise and light impacts on the neighbours. a. should the applicant require lighting to extend later into the evening, then it is recommended that a less intrusive, more ambient light source be developed which effectively offers safety and security to patrons.
  3. The Town receive a Site Remediation deposit, to ensure the concrete posts installed on the site, are adequately removed upon vacancy or end of the permit term, whichever comes first.
