Subject: Big Oil Suing and Rezoning Pause
Good evening,
I’m more than disappointed by the things I’m discovering from your office. Although not the reason for this email the higher property taxes are not helping with the frustration I’m feeling when I learned that we could possibly be paying $1 per resident to support the suing of oil companies. I do not support this idea. Suing is not the answer here and neither is making each resident contribute a dollar to this alleged cause without our consent. I’m sure there are more productive use of our monies to spend each dollar toward environmental issues. Please ensure this does not get approved!
My second issue with this View Royal government is their idea of imposing a moratorium of 6 months on rezoning. I view our community as progressive and growing in a positive way for business and building new communities. With the current need for housing I believe it’s important to maintain a steady progression of building whether it’s for housing or commercial property. Not only is it good for maintaining employment for those working in those construction fields, but it’s also building a stronger economy within our community. It’s been great seeing the new developments in our area and the beautification of those areas as a result. I feel strongly that pausing permits/rezoning is an error in judgment for our community as a whole.
I trust that you will consider my opinion as a resident of View Royal on both of these issues, and I hope that mine and others negative opinion on these issues is enough to stop the both from proceeding.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Kim Foster
Resident on Tovey Crescent.
