Dear Mayor and Council,
Just so you don’t wonder, I am unable to be at the Council meeting of June 6 but I most definitely support the recommendation to Council from PREAC asking the Council to have View Royal join the class action lawsuit against the large oil companies to recoup some of the many costs our Town will face from global warming. Similar to the class actions against the large tobacco companies this suit should have an excellent chance of success for the same reason: that the oil and gas companies have spent millions of dollars lying about the dangers of emissions from burning fossil fuels for many years and, as a result, have made global warming far more severe than if humankind had got to the problem when first detected. The coming costs of taking care of increased fire and flood danger and personal overheating should not just fall on the taxpayers of View Royal.
I urge you to join this lawsuit.
