Details of item to be added: Re-allocate Mural Art funds to the "Sails Shade Art Project" in View Royal Park. COMMUNITY Mural art already exists with our town's heritage Atkins tunnel. The mural is a contentious use of town's limited revenues at 10% tax increase; has safety concerns for pedestrians / cyclists near a busy roundabout; will be a time consuming process to select a 'theme', artist(s), and the end product will still likely controversial. Many risks involved.
The proposed Sails Shade Project is beautiful, practical, and an amenity consistent with the View Royal's Parks Plan (complimenting toilet and drinking fountain).
Summer heat domes and sun based cancers are increasing threats to our residents (children and dogs), and there is a lack of shade in the Off-leash area
Go see the excellent example that protects the children at the Westshore Parks and Rec daycare. BONUS! it replicates the sails in our town's beautiful crest / logo!
