Your worship,

On August 26 and 27 this year, the RCMP Musical Ride will perform in Victoria. This is part of a unique cross country tour celebrating Canada 150. The Victoria Military Music Festival Society (VMMFS), a not-for-profit, will provide the necessary support for these two performances locally. The first show will be held at Topaz Park and the second one at Royal Roads University: both shows are free to the community. We are hoping to have the RCMP Chief Superintendent and the Lieutenant-Governor as the Guest of Honour, at the respective events.

In addition to the Musical Ride, there will be some additional performers, still to be confirmed: Victoria Children's Choir, the 5th Field Band, a pipes and drums ensemble, some period costume performers and antique vehicles. The performance at RRU will also likely have a welcoming by First Nations. I am also requesting to have some army/navy/air force cadets in uniform to assist during the event at RRU to pass around donation buckets.

Reference the performance at RRU, Paul Longtin and I met with Julie Lawlor to initiate the involvement of the West Shore Chamber and the respective communities. She kindly sent an email to you and Councillor Weisgerber to introduce Paul and me and to advise you of the special event taking place at Royal Roads on 27 August. In planning for this event at RRU, we hope that the West Shore communities will be willing to assist with logistics support, and in that vein, we hope to approach some of the local businesses to seek support in critical areas. In addition, given the significance of this special event, we anticipate a large turnout from the communities and, consequently, hope that you and the View Royal Council will lend your support and help ensure its success.

Closer to the event, an invitation will be sent to you to join us as a VIP at the performance at Royal Roads. In the meantime, if you or any of the View Royal Councillors have any concerns, questions or recommendations regarding the RCMP Musical Ride, specifically with the event at Royal Roads, please do not hesitate to contact me at 250-642-2878 or Paul Longtin at 250-478-3573.

Sincerely,

Dave Bindernagel RCMP Musical Ride Coordinator Victoria Military Music Festival Society
