Dear Mayor Screech and Council:

I am pleased to inform you that I have been selected to participate on the 2017 Tour de Rock (the Tour) team, representing the View Royal Fire Department (the Department). As you are likely aware, the Tour is a 1,000 km ride that raises funds to support children and families dealing with paediatric cancer.

It is a tremendous honour to represent the Department on the Tour, especially since this is the first year that firefighters have been invited to participate in the event – I am one of only two firefighters to have been selected.

The View Royal Firefighters' Association has made a generous donation to help me meet my fundraising goal of at least $10,000. I respectfully request that Council consider making a $2,500 donation to help this incredibly worthy cause.

I would be pleased to appear before Council to answer any questions that you may have, and thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
