Dear Mayor Screech and Council,

Re: Thetis Lake Mobile Home Park

If the owner of the Mobile Home Park wishes to sell his land, it is his right to do so.

However, if a development company buys the land we can look forward to another clear cut along the highway.

We understand that municipalities are hungry for tax dollars, but what we do not need in this area is more housing and more traffic without having a means in place of preventing total traffic gridlock. The residents of the Chilco Road/Lund Road subdivision have only ONE exit out of this area if we ever have to be evacuated. It is absolutely dangerous having only one road in and out for hundreds of vehicles, never mind emergency vehicles trying to get in. If a housing development proceeds on the Mobile Park land, this will add even more cars trying to get out on to Six Mile Road. People going to work in the morning already have difficulty accessing Six Mile Road from Chilco Road due to the crush of traffic coming down the highway off-ramp. And.......we still have the two apartment buildings going in on Presley and the condos going in on Nursery Hill, in addition to all the buildings that are currently being planned or built in the Westshore (including Phases 6 and 7 on Lund Road in our subdivision).

Can a better use not be found for this land that would have a lesser impact on the native flora, fauna and trees? Has consideration been given to building a Seniors’ Complex on this property (which would not add to the commuter rush)?

When is enough ENOUGH?
