a) 20 Edwards Estates – Development Variance Permit No. 2016/16

  1. Report dated December 5, 2016 from the Director of Development Services

The Director of Development Services gave an overview of the report to Council and noted that the accessory building is non-compliant as it is over the maximum floor area. The accessory building will need to be removed to meet bylaw requirements.

  1. Comments from the Applicant

M. Hirst, applicant, noted that they have resided at this residence for ten years and the accessory building was already constructed at the time of purchase. He stated the property is a medium size lot with lot coverage of only 16%. M. Hirst indicated that the accessory building is used for vehicles and storage; the building is built on a slab and has a new roof; and the majority of his neighbours support the application.

The Fire Chief indicated that the Mutual Aid Agreement between the City of Colwood and Town of View Royal provides for assistance outside of the automatic aid agreement.
