LEVEL OF SERVICE STANDARD FOR HALLOWELL ROAD/ADMIRALS ROAD INTERSECTION

Aldersmith Place - AM 8:00 – 9:00 Future Total
At the Aldersmith Place / Admirals Road / Cooper Road intersection, the critical movement requiring analysis is the eastbound left turn movement onto Admirals Road. SimTraffic software was used to evaluate the delay for drivers making this movement. During the AM Peak Hour, the delay calculated by the software is 14.2 seconds, which translates to a LOS B with an average queue length of 8.9m (2 cars). The 95th percentile queue is shown to 15.9m (3 cars). The 95th percentile means that 95% of the time, this length is not exceeded.
Aldersmith Place - PM 3:00 – 4:00
As described above, the critical movement requiring analysis for this study is the eastbound left turn movement onto Admirals Road. During the PM Peak Hour, the delay calculated by the software is forecast to be 14.8 seconds, which translates to a LOS B with an average queue length of 10m (2 cars). The 95th percentile queue is shown to 17.0 (3 cars). No significant issues are anticipated. Field observations were undertaken during the AM Peak Hour (8:00 – 9:00) and support the model findings.

With the additional new and redistributed traffic volumes added to the intersection, the intersection is expected to operate within desired thresholds during the AM Peak Hour and no mitigation measures are required to accommodate the new traffic.
