Christie Point Redevelopment Plan | Community and Stakeholder Engagement Summary
A narrative summary of engagement activities conducted following the submission of the rezoning application, including information on open houses.
Community Engagement Following Application
Following submission of the Rezoning Application, the team hosted two additional information sessions to share details of the proposal with residents and neighbours. As noted earlier, a special Open House for residents was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. A second Neighbourhood Open House at the Songhees Wellness Centre was held on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Notice of the Open House was published in the Saanich News and Goldstream Gazette on January 27, 2017, and in the Victoria Time Colonist on January 28, 2017. Notification of the meeting was also distributed to the project’s e-mail list, assembled from previous events and comment forms, and online on the project website.
Approximately 60 people attended the meeting over the course of the Open House, with 33 signing in. Representatives from the team’s architectural, landscape and environmental, transportation planning and archaeological disciplines were in attendance to meet with attendees and address questions.
It is expected that the plan may be further refined in response to feedback from the Town of View Royal. The team will continue to engage with stakeholders throughout the process.
