At the Town of View Royal Council meeting on December 5, 2017, newly elected Councillor Damian Kowalewich was sworn into office. Council approved the 2018 meeting schedule and made numerous appointments for committee chairs, regional board representatives, and liaison roles for the upcoming year. Substantial discussion focused on recommendations from the Committee of the Whole, including requesting an extension for fire dispatch services with Saanich, identifying several infrastructure and community initiatives for the 2018-2022 Financial Plan, and adopting an amendment to the Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw.
Key Decisions
- THAT the Appointment of representatives to other Committees, Commissions and Boards for 2018 as outlined in Schedule B, items 1 through 22, a copy of which is attached hereto and forms a part of these minutes be endorsed as presented.
- THAT the Mayor write to the District of Saanich requesting a six month extension to the Town’s existing fire dispatch agreement; AND THAT the letter indicate View Royal Council’s strong belief that fire dispatch should be through a regional dispatch service.
