Hello,
I am reaching out for assistance with an ongoing problem in our neighbourhood. As I believe you are aware, we had some very disturbing behaviour around 74 Norquay last year / summer. In summary, some of the issues that arose and led to many police calls were as follows:
- Presence of multiple individuals at all hours of the day/night coming to and from the house, loading vehicles, standing in the street.
- Car abandoned on the road with a large boulder through window on Norquay.
- My children arrived home from school to find a man running around mid-day in his underwear, delirious.
- Garbage piles on the street, usually containing large broken liquor bottles.
- Cars stopping and staring up at our family sitting on the front porch.
- Discovery of a large bag of narcotics at the entrance to Gibraltar Bay that was provided to the police.
- Cars broken into on multiple occasions.
- Our home was broken into in July, while we were home with our children and asleep, my purse was stolen.
The police were involved many times, adding this residence to regular checks, eventually some people moved out of the home and things appeared to quiet down.
I would like to report that things are ramping up again. There has been multiple cars at all hours parked and visiting for short to long periods. There has been repeat vehicles, one I have attached a picture of. Yesterday, after watching them walk down to the house, my husband went out to try and get a plate number to phone to the RCMP, the gentleman ran back and took off in the truck, leaving a woman at the house that was picked up later. There were more vehicles and cyclists throughout the evening and night. There has been a steady increase over the last weeks.
We are very concerned the activity is starting to escalate again. We have young children, we do not feel safe in our neighbourhood - even trying to get licence plates to phone in makes us feel conspicuous and fear being targeted. We have added outside lights, new alarm systems and spend a significant amount of home time monitoring the goings-on. We are, quite frankly, fed up with the activity at this house and are hoping the Town of View Royal can do something to help. I am going to continue to report to the Westshore RCMP - however, it is a challenge for them to arrive while the vehicles and people are still present.
We have neighbours that are willing to share their experiences as well if required.
