Re: 80 Chilco Ridge Place View Royal Tree Permit Application 2020-103
Dear Mayor Screech and Council,
A permit was issued to remove some dead fir trees which has been completed. Based on the bylaw I am requesting an adjustment on the 2 for 1 replacement trees. Two of the four were well under the 30cm size.
I work in horticulture and understand the importance of tree care and the municipalities need to protect the tree canopy; however, I am questioning the need for 8 tree replacements when we needed to remove the dead trees for safety. (photo with orange flagging tape)

The remaining Fir tree is healthy and there are other ornamental trees on the property: in the backyard there is an original Hawthorn, Cedar 20+ years old and in the front yard a Japanese Snowbell and an ornamental Dogwood 20+ years old.
This property is surrounded on two sides by the town’s creek, greenspace which also contains some mature trees. (I have also sent a note to the engineering department about some of the dead trees in this area, I am not sure if they have been dealt with)
Thank you for your help in this matter. I am acting on my mother’s behalf A. Eileen Sharples, as her POA (on file).
Regards,
Catherine Kennedy
