Dear Mayor Screech and Councilors of the Town of View Royal,
I am concerned about safety for pedestrians and drivers in View Royal, in particular, the Harbour District.
The streets are designed for a residential area comprised of large lots. Safe on-street parking does not exist. Pedestrians walk along the side of the streets as the only sidewalks are along Helmcken.
I am aware of future development where the Namaste restaurant is situated, future development at the corner of Stewart+ Old Island Highway along with 291 Old Island Highway, and now a day-care on Pallisier near Stewart.
I am not against development of reidential condos or a day-care. It is a great area to live and more day-care spaces are always needed.
I want to know how the traffic will be managed and safety for everyone will be ensured... residents young and old, visitors, workers, pedestrians, cyclists, drivers... everyone.
Thank you,
Claire McDougald
