Dear Minister Osborne, Mayors and Councils, Director Hicks, Chair Stone:
RE: CRD Adoption of Regional Growth Strategy Amendment – Population Projections
I am pleased to inform you that the Capital Regional District (CRD) Board has adopted Bylaw No. 4328 “Capital Regional District Regional Growth Strategy Bylaw No. 1, 2016, Amendment Bylaw No. 1, 2019”. As required by section 443 of the Local Government Act, the CRD is providing you with a copy of the Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) amendment.
This amendment updates the population, dwelling unit and employment projections, at the sub-regional level, with data from the 2016 Census. Municipal and electoral area planners were provided the municipal-level projections that make up the sub-regional totals for transparency and practical applications. Please note that municipal-level projections should not be used for regional or cross-jurisdictional projects unless the municipality consents to their use.
On behalf of the Board, thank you for your participation in the RGS projections update process. I look forward to our continued implementation of the RGS and achieving the vision we have set for our region.
Sincerely,
Colin Plant Chair, Capital Regional District Board
