Hi Gery,
We had a big events planning meeting today and decided unanimously that we should postpone this event till next year. With the fear about the virus, we are really concerned that we will spend all this time, effort and money and then not have people turn up in large enough numbers to make it viable or even have it officially cancelled by governments. So many events are being cancelled and we just don't know how long this will carry on. We are hoping that by next Mother's Day they may have a vaccination and things will have settled down.
So very sorry to bring you this news but we felt we had to come to this decision. We are in need of your advice now on how best to broach this to the Mayor and Council. Our hope is that the monies will still remain available to us. We will still continue with our planning meetings so we will be more than ready to roll this out next year.
I am guessing it is too late to retract our blurb in the Spring newsletter? If there is no follow up publicity to this I think people will realize it isn't going to happen. I think people will understand in light of covid-19.
Regards,
Jane
