Good day,
I am very interested in finding out what rationale was used by Council when the decision to put in a free charging station for cars in the parking lot of city hall and i am hoping that you will enlighten me. For me, it seems odd that the taxpayers of View Royal would supply free charging for cars and yet offer noting for folks, like myself, who drive gasoline powered cars. It is even odder when you consider that the improvements that were made to Island Highway came from the federal gas tax.
What I especially find annoying is that the charging station is regularly used by a company that is in the business of selling electric cars. I based this on daily observation and the constant presence of cars with "dealer" plates and some days even a car that advertise a company that sells such automobiles. So, we are not only providing free fuel for any one in the Greater Victoria area but also for commercial entities.
I must assume that you have conducted your research on the benefit of e-cars v cars with combustible engines and have also included all aspects from the environmental impact that producing such cars and batteries and am wondering if you can further enlighten me on the data you used in order to put this station in.
