2020-2021 West Shore RCMP Annual Performance Plan
Mayor and Council;
Under normal circumstances, the West Shore RCMP would have requested in-person and focussed discussions when developing our Annual Performance Plan (APP). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to support Provincial safety guidelines we were unable to meet as desired. However, input from the communities we serve is vital in determining our focus and goals for the year. The below APP was created based on conversations, feedback and information received through previous discussions with Mayors, Chiefs and Council and ongoing communication with the residents of the West Shore.

2020-2021 West Shore RCMP Annual Performance Plan
1. Prevent and Reduce the Threat and Impact of Serious and Organized Crime
Organized Crime - Drug Trafficking
Measures:
- OMG targets and intelligence
- Drug trafficking charges
Initiatives:
- OMG intelligence gathering, member training, and intelligence sharing.
- Drug trafficking projects.
2. Enhance Road Safety – speeding
Traffic - Safety (motor vehicles, roads)
Measures:
- Increase violation tickets for speeding
- Speed campaigns in school zones
Initiatives:
- Speed and aggressive driving enforcement
3. Communicate Effectively - Build and maintain positive relations with our partners
Police / Community Relations - Visibility of police
Measures:
- RCMP social media campaigns
- RCMP recruiting mentorships
- Proactive mental health connections
Initiatives:
- RCMP social media campaigns to promote community relations.
- RCMP recruit mentorships to actively recruit potential police officers in the community.
- Proactive mental health connections. Identify mental health needs and form partnerships for supports in the community.
4. Enhance Relationship with Indigenous Communities - Reconciliation
Police / Community Relations - preventative measures
Measures:
- Indigenous youth outreach programs
Initiatives:
- FNP officer to engage in community consultive group quarterly; community presentations; crime prevention programs; and feedback pertaining to the letter of expectation.
- Community/ cultural events focussed on community youth. Cross cultural awareness and training opportunities, promoting building strong relationships between community members and members at West Shore RCMP.
- Contacts each month through street checks, probation/ curfew checks, violation tickets/warnings or other documented contacts. The goal is to identify and reduce the impact of trespassers and prolific offenders.
5. Crime Reduction - Prevent and Reduce property crimes
Property - Theft
Measures:
- Prolific property offender targets
- Break and enter/ theft charges
Initiatives:
- Prolific offender management and enforcement.
- Perform regular curfew checks on criminals who have outstanding court-ordered conditions living in the West Shore area.
