Letter from Renee L. Pick, Principal, View Royal Elementary School

Dear Mayor Screech,

Last night at our school PAC meeting, we receive the final document entitled, 'View Royal Elementary: Active School Travel Report for 2019-2020'. This ends our 18 month Ready, Step Roll: Active School Travel Planning program. We are so delighted to have been nominated for this program and thank you for your participation with that process last year.

From the neighbourhood walk, to the student 'hands up' survey we were led by the CRD's Active School Travel team members who helped set our focus. Over 100 of our students in Grades 4 and 5 have wonderful memories of their bike skills classes which could go one thanks to the thorough COVID safe adaptations and high quality instructors. We have tangible projects that can be seen by our neighbors like the signage on the E&N railway trail and the school zone paint on Helmcken road. These are just some examples of our school community stakeholders coming together to address concerns and bring action all with the objective to increase active travel by our students and families.
