Subject: Rezoning of 2401 Burnside Rd. W
My husband and I are strongly opposed to the rezoning of the land at 2401 Burnside Rd. W. (at Watkiss) so that it may be used for a HandyDART Facility. This land should remain zoned as Park, Open Space and Recreation.
We are long-term residents, residing at 1983 Riverside Drive, and we pass this location regularly by vehicle and on foot.
Our objections to rezoning this property are:
- it is contrary to View Royal's "open space conservation policy," clearly stated in our Community Development Plan;
- it will increase the traffic through View Royal at an intersection that is already stressed and that will be increasingly stressed as the town proceeds with other planned development;
- it does nothing to enhance the well-being of the local neighbourhood, and will negatively affect it through increased traffic, noise and potential devaluation of property;
- it is a potential threat to the environmental health of Craigflower Creek.
