STRATEGIC PLAN PRIORITIES 2018 - UPDATE
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT Council approve the updated Strategic Plan Priorities for 2018.
PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To seek Council approval for the updated Strategic Plan Priorities for 2018.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
In mid-February 2015, after the November 2014 local government election, Council and senior staff undertook a facilitated strategic planning workshop. The workshop focused on three main themes – fiscal sustainability, economic growth, and regional issues.
Stemming from these themes, four key strategic priorities were identified and specific projects/initiatives developed for each:
- Financial Sustainability and Service Excellence
- Enhance Livability
- Community and Economic Growth
- Maintain Strong Relationships with our Neighbours
In early 2016 and 2017, Council and staff reviewed this overall Strategic Plan and updated it. As well, throughout 2015 to 2017, regular Strategic Plan updates have been provided to the Committee of the Whole.
DISCUSSION:
As was done in early 2016 and 2017, Council and senior staff once again recently reviewed the Strategic Plan, considering progress made in the first three years of Council’s term and identifying priorities for the remainder of the term.
The attached document includes the updated Strategic Plan Priorities for 2018 (Attachment “A”) and a report card summarizing projects/initiatives completed between 2015 and 2017 (Attachment “B”).
In keeping with past practice described above, regular reports to the Committee of the Whole will continue to be provided in 2018 regarding this “living document”.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT Council approve the updated Strategic Plan Priorities for 2018.
