Subject: Environmental Assessment of the Kwispaa LNG project - Interested Parties

To Vancouver Island organizations and local governments,

I’m writing with regard to the Kwispaa LNG Project (the Project), a liquefied natural gas facility that has been proposed by Kwispaa LNG (CF) Limited Partnership, that would be located at Sarita Bay, about 10 kilometres northeast of Bamfield on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. As proposed, the Project would liquefy natural gas for export to global markets and would include jetty-moored floating LNG production units, marine terminals, and onshore components. At full build-out, the facility would produce approximately 24 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year, over a lifespan of at least 25 years. On October 26, 2018 the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) commenced a 45-day screening phase, including a 20-day public comment period, to determine whether a federal environmental assessment of the Project should be required. The Agency is requesting any comments by November 18, 2018. Comments can be sent to CEAA.Kwispaa.ACEE@canada.ca.

The Agency is currently in the process of establishing a list of ‘interested parties’, organizations or local governments that may be interested in receiving updates regarding opportunities for public involvement in the federal environmental assessment process for the Project. If you or your organization would like to receive these periodic updates, please let me know.
