Dear Mayor Screech and council:
Re: Expression of Thanks to Command Staff Deployed during 2018 Declaration of Provincial Emergency
I am writing to express my sincere thanks to the Town of View Royal for supporting the Office of Fire Commissioner’s Incident Command program during the declared state of provincial emergency that lasted from August 15 to September 7, 2018.
Director of Protective Services Paul Hurst was selected to be a member of the All Hazard Command Team, following the 2017 Wildfire season based on a screening process that identified key leadership attributes and experience requirements necessary to oversee complex human resource, equipment deployments and to stay on top of an ever changing interface fire situation.
As Incident Commander, Director of Protective Services Paul Hurst was responsible for providing senior leadership to structure protection crews that were drawn from over 60 different fire departments from across British Columbia. The Town of View Royal should be very proud to have Paul Hurst as a member of your professional staff. It is our hope that your fire department will be able to apply the learnings from the 2018 Incident Command program to your day to day program management.
Sincerely,
Gordon Anderson Fire Commissioner
