Resident correspondence supporting the installation of a sidewalk on Six Mile Road leading into Thetis Lake Park.

Dated August 14, 2018Safety concerns cited for pedestrians and young children

I’m writing with respect to the lack of sidewalk on Six Mile Road going leading into Thetis Lake. I understand this issue may be discussed at the next committee meeting so I wanted to add my support for a sidewalk.

I live in the neighbourhood and have a 4-year-old daughter. We often walk to Thetis from our house and the stretch of road leading there is very unsafe for pedestrians. We are forced to walk really close to the vehicles whizzing up and down and there is no curb to offer any protection. Also, it is not just the neighbourhood locals, there are also many people who have to walk up from the overflow parking lot and many people who walk up from the bus stop on the Old Island Highway.

Thank you for your consideration of this issue.
