Resident expressing opposition to the HandyDART depot rezoning due to traffic and noise concerns.

2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
May 17, 2018

From: George Ghanem Sent: May-17-18 6:16 PM To: Info Address info@viewroyal.ca Subject: Rezonning Proposal for Watkiss/Burnside

Dear Councillors,

I saw the sign indicating the property on Watkiss and West Burnside is planned to be rezoned to allow an establishment of a HandyDart depot.

I happen to live in the area and use that street on a regular basis. I would like to voice my opposition to the rezoning as it is counter the nature of the area. This is a residential area and not meant to be an industrial zoned area for a depot, especially one that will cause more traffic and noise. This will be a large impact on the neighborhood which is already struggling with noise and high traffic congestion on that corner during peak traffic hours.

Having a depot nestled amongst residential houses and a primary school close by seems like a bad location and will adversely affect the nature of the area. We need more traffic calming measures in the area not the addition of high traffic commercial ventures.

I have spoken to some of our neighbors and I do not see any support for this rezoning.

Please decline this rezoning.

Thanks for your consideration.
