Concerning the implementation of the Handy Dart Facility Proposal for View Royal
We do NOT support a proposal for the Handy Dart Facility on the property of 2401 Burnside Road W.
Our area for our family is a community, an area to grow up, live, be safe and it is a residential area with wild life, and an environment , nature and trees.
Our Hospital serves the communities of many Victoria residents. There is emergency traffic, and also regular traffic right now, that does not move quickly after 3 pm. People have been hit by buses in cross walks downtown. There is a cross walk near by the proposed area. Children walk this road. Three pm. - School lets out. Yes--there is a school in the area.
The Goose is here. People enjoy the area for their peaceful daily walks.
Taking all the green area for a 100 plus bus area is not fitting for this area.
Wash bays, diesel, noise, traffic, pollution, decrease of property values( NOTE: Many of your residents, will ask for a decrease in residential tax to property next year if this goes forward) We are advising we will be one of them.
Council was approached for traffic control devices placed on Highland Road two years ago because of speeding vehicles. A request to have an additional speed hump put on the Highland Road, was turned down. I was at this meeting. I was told that it would not be placed. One reason was that the Fire Department stated that an additional speed bump would impact their response time to any fire in the area of Highland Road, by having to drive the fire truck over speed bump.
The speed bump was turned down, what about trying to get a fire truck through the area or around a 45 Foot bus - or traffic from an area holding 100 + BUSES? If an ambulance is trying to transport a family member to the hospital will the time be delayed.
We are speaking up about the proposal. We purchased our home in View Royal because of the Green space, Park area, and natural living space. We voted for people who we thought supported the vision.
We are expressing our Full concern for our community impact by the HandyDart Facility. This is not the area for it.
We appose the facility being zoned for this area.
The Hospital, a school, residential, wildlife, Homes, The Goose, Prior Lake, Thetis lake plus usual traffic.
The decisions impacting the Families, our Community, Nature, Public Safety, and Health response time or Care all surround this area. Our area has been impacted by Choices, not being our Choices. The Choices transitional shelter was temporary… right near the school.

Royal Mayor David Screech says there is cautious support for the idea from his council, but notes the community might be somewhat jaded after hosting Choices for two years when the original plan was for it to stay for six months.
Choices follows a harm-reduction model so drug and alcohol consumption is permitted on site.
Just how the proposed rezoning for the therapeutic community will be met by neighbours is anyone’s guess.
A 30-year-old Esquimalt man was arrested after a car with stolen license plates led investigators to a cache of drugs and weapons Sunday night.
West Shore RCMP say they received a report of a red Saturn with stolen plates on Talcott Road just before 7 p.m.
Three people in the car were arrested, and a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded drugs including marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth and fentanyl.
We want to advise that we do not support the Facility Proposal for 2401 Burnside Road, W.
