Resident expressing concern about noise pollution and the preservation of the rural feel of the neighborhood.

To whom ever it may concern,
I am writing to express concern over the proposed plan to build the HandyDART facility in View Royal. My family and I moved here almost 2 years ago and chose this area specifically because of it's rural feel and quiet family oriented community. With only residences, several small businesses and an elementary school we were under the impression that any growth in this area would continue to nurture this environment. However this proposal stands to destroy that. An increase in traffic down Watkiss Way affects the children's safety as they walk to and from school. I have noted several buses speeding through the school zone and the chance of this happening would only increase with this facility. What about noise pollution as well as pollution to the natural environment that makes View Royal so beautiful? I can sit on my deck at night and listen to the owls and prefer that over diesel engines.
My husband and I would suggest that this facility be built in an already existing industrial area such as in Langford. With the new overpass this location would still offer accessibility to areas in Greater Victoria.
Please, if you value the residents of View Royal and what makes this municipality so awesome decline the proposal. For the sake of our children and the owls.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Matheos from 1900 Watkiss Way
