construction of a stacked boulder wall had been carried out along the south side of a driveway access to the lower, rear yard of the property;
the wall was observed to be range in height from 1 to 4m and, due to proximity of trees along the toe of the wall, the face batter of the wall varies from 1H:1V to ¼H:1V;
review of the backfill indicates that free-draining material was used to promote drainage into the low-lying area adjacent to Millstream Creek;
a test pit excavated at the base of the wall indicates that the subgrade for the wall is dense, native, silty sand, which is consistent with past experience within this subdivision;
the driveway is to remain gravel-surfaced and not used on a daily basis;
it was discussed that this wall is a landscaping wall with minimal downslope consequence for failure, as the area below the wall is within the subject property and will not be readily habited;
the wall is considered suitable for driveway support and is expected to perform adequately under static conditions.
