CALL TO ORDER – The Chair called the meeting to order at 5:39 p.m. Introductions were made and the agenda was approved.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES
a) Draft Parks Master Plan
P. Shaw, Director, Master of Community Planning Program Vancouver Island University, spoke to the Committee in regard to the Draft Parks Master Plan.
She noted the vision of this plan; purpose and scope; overall goals and strategies; environmental context; and the concern over road ends. As well, she discussed community engagement and the action plan.
The committee and students from Vancouver Island University discussed the Draft Parks Master Plan in particular:
- Inventory of parks on Town’s website;
- Neighbourhood and municipal needs;
- Accessibility to parks;
- Crime prevention;
- Walking opportunities and loop trails;
- Active recreation verses passive recreation needs;
- Connectivity for wildlife;
- Invasive species;
- Signage to improve park identification;
- Terms of reference does not include trails;
- A limited range of waterfront road ends; and
- Community engagement and surveys.
