Today Thursday September 22, 2016 at approx 14:45 hours I am attempting to return home from work by making a right turn off Helmcken onto Rudyard to proceed to Stormont where my residence is. As I turn the corner, I note both sides of Rudyard are filled with parked cars, leaving little more than a centre lane down Rudyard. I am immediately stopped barely onto Rudyard when I see two small cars pulling out from the road edge, side by side, proceeding in the same direction outbound towards Helmcken. What lane there was is now completely blocked. The cars are moving slowly due to the plethora of kids running helter skelter over the roadway. I now have a man in a large pickup truck directly behind me flashing his high beams because I cannot move. Clearly this situation with the school parking is escalating and becoming more dangerous. Doing nothing is unacceptable! It is time to convert parking along Rudyard into local streets only (Resident Parking). The Town's By-Law Officer can be used to enforce this during times when the school is transferring children to or from. Drop offs, and Pickups can be achieved in the Day Care parking lot directly east of the School. The PAC can hire a traffic monitor twice a day to ensure traffic is kept moving through the lot and not dilly dallying for social purposes. I expect to be advised of what steps are taken to address this.
