Units Dimensions are metric, elevations are given in Geodetic meters on plan and profile, unless otherwise noted.

Context These drawings form part of a master set of contract drawings. No portion of this project is to be utilized for pricing or construction without the benefit of the review of the entire set of contract documents and specifications.

Existing Services and Site Information Information regarding services within areas of construction may have been compiled from record drawings and/or field surveys. Unrecorded services may be present but not indicated on these drawings.

Use of Information Information that is provided in the general notes and specifications is intended to indicate the general requirements for construction for the full essence of the project. The information contained on these drawings does not relieve the contractor of his obligation to suit site conditions or other such additions, deletions or changes by others. Users of the information shall immediately notify the Engineer if site conditions or information on any of the plans, specifications or documents is in conflict with our information or the achievement of the design intent. Refer to Koel Engineering's Conditions of Guidelines for use of these documents and construction of the works.

Specifications Refer to the latest edition of Standard Specifications for Municipal Services, MMCD, or as modified by the Master Municipal project specific requirements.

General Rule All construction, material and installation of services not covered specifically by the above referenced documentation, or by individual municipal bylaws, shall be in general conformance with the Master MMCD specifications, standard detail drawings, and best practices.

Unless otherwise specified herein, all sewer and drain work within private property boundaries is to be installed in accordance with the BC Building Code.

Communication Requirements Contact BC One-Call prior to construction. Call for Services: 1-800-474-6886.

Coordination and Reporting The Contractor is to coordinate and communicate with the engineer, all utilities, and sub-consultants at least 48 hours in advance (2-working days minimum) of the start of construction, site investigations, or each phase of the project.

The Contractor shall coordinate and schedule all sub-consultants, contractors and trades required for the completion of the works.

The Contractor shall provide the required quality control and conformance testing to report to the engineer for the completion of each phase of the work.

Sub-consultants must provide copies of all plans/reports/instructions to the District, project constructors, and engineers regarding reconstructed works and services.

MoTI Permit A HIGHWAY USE PERMIT is Required to construct works on a Highway Road allowance.

Permits must be obtained from the appropriate Agencies before works commence.

Notification Notify utility agencies minimum five working days in advance of construction scheduling demand and prior commitments of all parties.

Failure to comply with these requirements shall be sufficient reason for a stop work order on construction until the requirements are satisfied.

Specialist Inspections In the event that the contractor is not prepared for the field inspection of the work, the engineer shall be notified otherwise in writing at least 2 days before any construction layout is approved.

Change Requests Contractor requested construction changes must be submitted and approved by the Engineer/Town. A written request must be submitted and the District is to be included in the change-order approvals process.

Specialist Inspections (continued) Some of the works involved in completing the civil aspects of the project rely on the input from other professional disciplines, as such, the contractor must be aware of such relationships, and shall consult each discipline as to the applicability of their work and inspections relative to their own work. The Contractor must provide the Engineer with copies of all communication issued by such others.

General Construction Requirements

  • Public Access: Maintain full pedestrian and vehicular access to site.
  • Notification: Minimum 48 hours to notify all persons affected by construction, in writing, prior to commencement of construction, or in provide emergency contact information for the project. The contractor shall notify the engineer immediately if conditions are not favorable to the achievement of the design intent.
  • Confirmation of Services: Existing services and proposed connections, if any, shall be exposed, located and verified as to size, depth and grade by the Contractor prior to any works commencement.
  • Protection of Services: Provide full structural support for all construction for tax services locale. All hydrants, poles, vaults, sign poles, meters boxes and cleanouts to be provided with "Brooks No. 1" concrete protection where construction is subject to vehicle traffic. Except where otherwise specified, maintain the function and flow of under oil sewers and drains during construction of sewer and drain pipes. Provide full duct concealment and backfill in trenches through existing and/or proposed paved roads and sidewalk to a depth below the edge of at least 300mm of crush gravel.
  • Trees: All branches and root structures are to be cut back cleanly with appropriate tools and backfilled such that no settlement occurs during the growth life of the property.
  • Testing Requirements: Minimum pressure testing is required by the contractor, having witnessed the works and results. Compaction testing for all roadwork, gravel, base course, concrete, and soil construction is required with the engineer provided on the cost of the testing. All testing is to be provided at the Contractor's expense.
  • Miscellaneous: All public areas are to be maintained mud and dust free during construction. Contractor shall adjust all the services components to match finished grades. All landscaping and structures to be reinstated to original condition or better. Existing buildings to be connected to new services. Must be inspected by the Applicable Authorities and authorities having jurisdiction.
