Water Specific Notes
General All Waterworks construction and materials shall be in accordance with CRD Water Department (District) Engineering Specifications and Standard Drawings.
Clearances Maintain a minimum of 1m horizontal clear separation and 150mm clear vertical separation between watermains and other services.
The proposed SDR28 sewer main that crosses the watermain must have 450mm vertical clearance except where PVC DR18 pressure class sewer pipe is used.
Crossings Where crossings of any other sewer or drain have vertical separations less than 450mm vertical clearance from the watermain, wrap all pipe joints with an approved tape for at least 3m either side of the crossing.
Any watermain joint that is exposed within 2m of the crossing trench shall be joint restrained.
Crossing Conflict In the event that the existing SIX MILE RD watermain is in direct conflict with the sewer main crossing, then the District shall be contacted to modify the existing watermain to provide appropriate clearance.
Any temporary or permanent work to the District water system shall be performed by District personnel only.
The District shall carry out such work at Applicant's expense.
Testing and Marking Contractor shall conduct a water main pressure test in accordance with District Specifications and in the presence of the Engineer and District personnel.
Mark water main crossings below grade using a metallic detectable reinforced underground utility marking tape. The tape shall be minimum 150 mm wide, 0.005" thick in blue color and shall be marked "CAUTION WATER LINE BURIED BELOW" printed blue on top of the pipe surface 300 mm above the top of the pipe. Provide "Thortex" marking tape or approved equal.
Completion Where practical, service lines and meter boxes shall be installed to finished grade, outside of driveways or paved areas.
Decommissioning of old water infrastructure shall be carried out by District.
