Dear Mayor and Councillors,

Re: Application for a development permit with variances to 280 Island Highway

We appreciate the time we were given to look over the plans with the Town of View Royal planner this afternoon. We wish to take issue with the following variances:

1. Front minimum setback : In terms of traffic safety, the sight line for exiting and entering our home will be adversely effected. Turning onto the road currently has its challenges. Making a right turn from our driveway will be dangerous with drivers to the right at 280 making left turns.
2. Rear minimum setback: This could damage the root system of our existing mature trees.
3. Number of parking stalls: With the limited area for public parking in the vicinity, there is need to have at the very least the minimum required number of parking stalls.

The amount of blasting required for this design is a grave concern but we do understand that it is a provincial matter.

At the time the improvements were done to Island Highway, it was understood that the roadside improvements with burying the cables would be done after the Fire Hall was moved and with financial assistance from the sale of 280 Island Highway. There is no mention of this currently.
