ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION NETWORK PLAN PRESENTATION

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT the Active Transportation Network Plan Presentation by WATT Consulting be received for information.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this report is to inform Council of the next steps to complete the project, following WATT Consulting’s presentation regarding the Draft Active Transportation Network Plan.

TIME CRITICAL:

The project has upcoming deadlines to meet grant requirements (May 31, 2023). This was extended from the previous deadline (March 31, 2023).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

In order to meet the Provincial funding requirements for this project, the Final Active Transportation Network Plan must be completed and adopted by Council by May 31, 2023.

Following the presentation, the Committee will have the opportunity to provide comment to WATT Consulting and Town staff. Staff would then bring forward a report to Council at the April 19th, 2023 regular Council meeting for the adoption of the Active Transportation Network Plan. The reason for the additional meeting is so that staff and WATT Consulting can meaningfully address the comments that Council has previously provided to the Town.

Funding will be provided in hand to the Town once the Active Transportation Network Plan is finalized. Staff would then subsequently bring forward recommended capital projects to Council during budget deliberations.
