Nature and Goals of the Program

JACK CERNEY BIKE LOANER PROGRAM – I RIDE FOR JACK!

The loaner bike program is a new program we are implementing at Victoria BMX on behalf of a 12 year old BMX racer Jack Cerney who was recently diagnosed with leukemia in December 2020.

This program will aid riders of all financials backgrounds who are not able to purchase a bike or helmet for enjoyment of BMX. This program will aid those in financial need to rent a tuned up bike to participate in a practice and or race. The Foundation will support races, awards and scholarships.

Jack is a 12 year old expert racer and if you don’t know who he is, he is a fantastic bmx racer with a track record you can’t beat. The skill, focus, and dedication this young man puts into every race, he is unstoppable. And like his races, this life challenge of being diagnosed with Leukemia will be the same. Jack will continue to overcome each obstacle with perseverance and grit. With the support of his family and his BMX family.

All BMX tracks in British Columbia can initiate their own bike loaner program to generate a loaner bike program at their track.

Start up costs can be up to $7500-$10,000 depending on the number of bikes. The program can charge a rental fee for each bike for each use. As well as a helmet rental with covid protocols in place.

Patrons will use an online booking system to book bike rentals in advance and helmets at their perspective tracks. A rental fee of $10 each time making it affordable to all families.

$2 from every rental will go toward “JACK CERNEY LEUKEMIA FOUNDATION” and the $8 is reinvested back the named track for the purpose of the program progressing year to year to build future foundations of BMX in every community.

The family of Jack Cerney are thankful to Victoria BMX and BMX Canada for supporting Jack during this trying time. They look forward to other BC tracks following suit to support this young man and his fight with Leukemia.

The funds from the JACK CERNEY LEUKEMIA FOUNDATION will be used to sponsor track races, awards, and scholarships for BMX Canada and donations are accepted at any time.

Future events include an online auction fundraiser, special races, and tshirt and hat sales.
