Re: Letter of Support – Bike Victoria Society application to Grant in Aid from the Town of View Royal

This letter is in support of the Bike Victoria Society’s application to the Town of View Royal’s Grant in Aid program for Everyone Rides Grades 4 & 5 (ERG45) program at Eagle View Elementary.

Our school is glad to support the ERG45 program and would welcome the opportunity to bring cycling education to Eagle View’s grade 4 & 5 students. We see the value in getting our students on bikes and familiar with the traffic environment, so we can increase green initiatives at our school while promoting safe ways for students to stay active. We are also pleased to see the ERG45 program aligns with the Province’s goals related to Vision Zero and cleaner and more active transportation for all ages and abilities.

We heard positive feedback that the ERG45 program at other schools were inclusive of students at a wide variety of bike skill levels. Moreover, in this year of COVID-19, Principals were thrilled to see Bike Victoria Society’s strong organizational ability to develop a COVID-19 Safety Plan and ability to deliver the program at each school in fall 2020 within Provincial guidelines.

In conclusion, our school would like to reiterate our support for Bike Victoria as they seek funding to run the ERG45 program at our school in 2021.
