RE: Grant in Aid for Scouts Canada 3rd Arbutus- Acknowledgement of Previous Submission

This statement acknowledges the ongoing and generous support of the Grant in Aid program from the Town of View Royal which has enabled us to bring scouting to youth within the View Royal community who would otherwise be unable to afford program activity costs.

The previous 2020 submission and receipt of the Grant in Aid in the amount of $630 dollars has remained unused as COVID and pandemic program has placed our activities in an online forum from March 2020 until Feb 2021. As the previous grant in aid funding was allotted towards costs for program activities for youth, as pandemic measures loosen, we will be able to offer the grant in aid funds to go towards activity costs which include camping and activity costs for youth that are otherwise faced with financial hardship. The current program for our sections is hybrid between online meetings and meeting in person in an outdoor setting and as the provincial health orders open up the program and activity base, the funds from previous year allotment will help generously towards the program costs for these youth.

Our group is asking for an extension of use of last years funds, or we are able to reimburse last years funds and reapply for this years grants as our programming and pandemic stages move towards a complete outdoor setting for our youth for all sections and age ranges.

It is important that our group, as the only scouting group in View Royal, has access to funds that we can use to support the program for the 46 youth, ranging in age from 5-26 years old, so that they can be a part of the rich experience that is scouting.

On behalf of 3rd Arbutus Scouting group, I thank the Town of View Royal and respectfully ask that you consider approving the accompanying application for further Grant in Aid funding.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hannah, Group Commissioner Scouts Canada 3rd Arbutus
