Planting Notes

Tree placement and selection to be approved by landscape designer prior to planting.
All existing plants to be retained are to be protected during installation and construction.
Unless noted otherwise on planting plan, minimum soil depths are to be: 12" in lawn; 18" in groundcover and shrub areas. Each rootball to have one cubic yard of soil distributed to depth of 24" around the tree.
Ensure positive drainage away from the building where planting soil is to be run against the building face.
All trees to be staked securely.
Lawn to be approved seed mix or approved sod.
Subsurface grade to be sloped toward drainage pipe.
Soil mix in lawn areas to be 80% sand unless otherwise noted. Soil mix to comply with BCSLA / BCLNA Landscape Standard.
All planting beds to be bermed up minimum 4" above adjacent lawn or hard surface areas, except around existing trees. Existing trees are not to have soil added around them.
All plants to come from SOD free (Sudden Oak Death or Phytophthora ramorum) certified nurseries.
Any substitutions must be approved by landscape designer prior to ordering.
All new landscape areas shall be irrigated by a commercial grade, fully automatic irrigation system. Irrigation system to be adjusted to avoid over spray onto streets.

Site Layout Annotations

Thetis Lake Regional Park: Adjacent to the property line.
Property Fencing: Fence (chainlink, 5'-0" tall) along the park boundary.
Vegetation Buffers: 1.5m wide planting strip of mixed native and ornamental broadleaf evergreen material with high fire resistance ratings.
Slope Retention: Planting: Mixed native & ornamental material (for slope retention - boulder walls as needed).
Phasing: Includes markings for Phase 3, Future Phase 4, and Phase 1 boundaries.
